Jackson's Basketball Team

Jackson loves basketball and this season he...and a few of our neighbor boys...have joined a competitive league in our area. Be careful what you wish for...competitive is an understatement. They have tried really hard, but just haven't gotten into a rhythm. Each week the boys take a beating on the scoreboard, but still seem to be having fun!
Pre-Game Huddle
Jackson #3

Jackson is one of the point guards. He brings the ball down the floor and calls the plays.

The next few photos are of Jackson shooting a free throw. He's hard to see at first, but he's standing in front of #33. Jackson scored 3 of the teams 5 points. Great job Jackson!!

The first basket of the game!

Benjamin keeping a close eye on Jackson. He wants to play basketball too!

Getting ready for the inbound pass.
Looking for an open teammate!
The final score was 5-26. This was one of our best games all season and we still lost. Like I said...very competitive league. Oh well, there's always next week.

Fun at the Zoo

Benjamin and I spent the day at the Denver Zoo. We had a great time. He always wants to see the giraffe's first!

He also loves the wild horses! After seeing this photo, I have decided a new pair of sunglasses are in order for my birthday. Honey, start a list now!

No zoo experience is complete without climbing on the hippo statue.

And we never miss an opportunity to ride the carrousel. Benjamin always has an animal in mind before we get there. Usually he rides the giraffe. Today he tried something new...the okapi.

On the way home, Benjamin fell asleep snuggling his giraffe and his new okapi. He was sooo tired, I was able to get him out of the car and into the house without waking up. Yeah...quiet time for me!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Today we celebrated our first Chinese New Year! We had so much fun and plan to make this a family tradition for many years to come. This year is the Year of the Dragon. So, we started our celebration by making a dragon cake...thanks to the girls at chinaadopttalk.com.

As you can see, we had a  lot of fun making this cake. Bennie loved sorting the M&Ms and Jackson was up to his elbows in frosting.

Jackson did a great job decorating the bundt cakes with M&Ms and fruit slices~half chocolate and half spice cake...my favorite!
Who's that cute little dragon?
Benjamin! You're too cute!
Our Dragon Cake
Jackson loved making this cake. He wants to make another one for his birthday. As you can see in the photo, some of the yellow M&Ms are already missing...Bennie!
For dinner we had pot stickers and edamame...a family favorite! After dinner, we went outside on the front porch to light up our red lanterns.
